Women's knowledge and empowerment to reduce maternal mortality in the Democratic Republic of Congo
Project overview
The Taaut research program has enabled us to understand the persistence of the high maternal mortality rate and to identify obstacles to the implementation of health policies in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. In all, 3 studies were carried out using mixed methods, with large samples of over 97,000 pregnant women for the quantitative study and over 197 interviews for the qualitative study. This program described a multimodal health promotion intervention project to be deployed with key players, including women, matrons, family members, community members and caregivers, to motivate pregnant women to use healthcare services during their maternity.
